After being awarded an MA (hons) in Fine Art from the University of Edinburgh in 1988, Jo Ganter has exhibited in many group shows across Europe and the US, including the Tyler gallery, Philadelphia (1994), and the KALA Institute, Berkeley, California, where she was a fellow in 1994. More recently she has presented in exhibitions throughout Europe. Her work has gained her awards and residencies, amongst them a Rome Scholarship (1989), a Boise Scholarship (1993) and a Sir William Gillies Award (2005). She was recently elected to the Royal Scottish Academy. Collections holding her work include The Contemporary Art Society, London, The Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp, The Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum, Rutgers, New York Public Library and the Hunterian Art gallery and Museum in Glasgow. Throughout her career, Jo has taught at various institutions in Britain and the US, including the Museum School of Fine Art in Boston.
