Lynne Curran is a tapestry weaver whose unique and intricate works are in public and private collections worldwide, including Glasgow museums (GOMA), The Ruskin Gallery and The Victoria and Albert Museum’s Textile and Prints & Drawings collections. 'La Dame aux Belles Plumes' was on show in the textile study room (100) until 23rd July. There is a tremendous amount of preparatory work behind each piece, and this manifests itself in both observational drawing (life-drawing) and scribbling down ideas from the imagination (design-drawing) and due to a long waiting list none of Lynne’s tapestries are available for this auction. However, Lynne has generously donated original sketches which were made especially to illustrate the book 'Cats Behaving Badly', compiled by Michelle Lovric and published in New York by Barnes and Noble. |
