Job summary

The NHSFV Programme Artist will be responsible for developing and delivering a programme of accessible visual arts activities over 5 months [2 days per week] for patients in up to 5 NHS Forth Valley settings. The successful candidate must be able to work autonomously, proactively and have excellent time management skills.  The artist practitioner will be line managed by the Artlink Central artistic programmer.  The majority of the programme will take place at Forth Valley Royal Hospital with the rest potentially taking place in the health board’s community hospitals. The devised programme should fit the overall objectives of the NHSFV Arts and Wellbeing strategy and contribute to Artlink Central’s Service Level Agreement (SLA) which aims to encourage social interaction and relaxation and (if things are being made during the workshops) temporarily enhance the ward environment. Workshops may be delivered to engage patients in design processes as well as for the purposes of supporting meaningful activity in healthcare settings. There is a possibility that the contract may be renewed in 2018/19.

The remit involves:

·         Devising, organising and delivering accessible visual art workshops with patients

·         Involving NHSFV staff and volunteers in the workshop programme

·         Working with small groups of patients in busy clinical healthcare environments

·         Evaluating the programme with us and NHSFV

·         Managing the programme budget with the artistic programmer

·         Supporting NHSFV’s overall exhibitions and events programme if required

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a successful application to Disclosure Scotland for PVG membership, or if already a member they will require an update. Artlink Central would consider a job share for this post
