Creative Autism: Call for Artwork

Stirling & Clackmannanshire Council Autism Strategy are delighted to bring this opportunity for individuals and business to take part in Autism Awareness Month.

As part of the launch of the Autism Strategy for Stirling & Clackmannanshire, we will be exhibiting a major exhibition of work created by individuals with autism.

Creative Autism is opened to pupils with autism from primary and secondary schools, and adults with autism in Stirling and Clackmannanshire. The aim is to engage the children and adults through a range of creative activities of an artistic nature.

The theme selected for this year is about self-expression, "nothing about us without us" to give an insider view of autism. In this sense, there is no particular restriction of what participants with autism chose to do, their own expression in whatever forms or shapes is what matters.

Media includes painting, drawing, photography, video or any sculpture production. We need to limit the sizes to A5, A4, or A3, however there could be scope for additional sizes to be discussed with the exhibition organisers at Artlink Central.  The work needs to be submitted to Artlink Central by March 20th 2015 to Artlink Central, Cowane Centre, Cowane Street, Stirling FK8 1JP

The work produced will be displayed at two central exhibitions;  venue to be confirmed in Stirling & Clacks to be launched on the 2nd of April 2015  and displayed until the end of April 2015.    The exhibition launches will mark the beginning of a series of events to promote autism awareness throughout the month of April.

There will also be Satellite Exhibitions at local libraries and cafes. Which will serve as advertising and information sites to point to the main exhibition centres.

A silent auction will be conducted at the end of April 2015 on a selection of art work in order to engage the public further and to provide some financial return for the artists involved.

Not all the work produced will go on display, however, everything will be photographed and presented electronically on the Autism Forth Valley website. Some work will also be selected to illustrate the Autism Strategy publication to be launched in April 2015.

If you are a participant interested in producing work, or If you are a business who potentially would be interested in hosting some of the work please contact us on

Venue details will be posted as they are confirmed.
