Arts & Young People

Artlink Central and Schools

We are delivering a year-long program with Alan Bryden as a development artist in Craigalbert Centre, the Scottish Centre for children with motor impairments. Artlink Central delivers a program of inclusive arts projects across a number of schools in Stirling.

Traditionally we have delivered social inclusion and transition projects, but more recently we have focused on wellbeing and are now an approved provider for the Stirling council’s therapeutic service in schools.

The programme works with young people with additional support needs, we deliver three specific programmes, social inclusions, arts and transition and creative leavers.

A child or young person has additional support needs if they need extra support (compared with their classmates) to get the most out of school. This does not just mean doing well academically but also covers help with other aspects of being at school. For example, they might need support with developing confidence or help with extra-curricular activities.

Artlink Central and Young People within the NHS

Most recently we have hosted an artist in residence within CAMHS (Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services) Robyn Woolston - link the project), as well as an artist in residence within Children and Family Services (Natasha Russell - link to article) at Forth Valley Royal Hospital both looking to improve the environment of the settings, with involvement of staff.

We also support young artists to work with us, in particular, art and design students at Larbert High School, who regularly contribute to the arts program at the Royal Hospital .
